In-Mold Decorating Association Launches the Annual IMDA Awards Competition

(Entries Now Accepted in IML, IMD and IME Categories)

Coming off the success of NPE2024, which saw extensive visitor interest in in-mold technologies, the In-Mold Decorating Association (IMDA) has launched its annual IMDA Awards Competition and is anticipating entries from around the world. Featuring outstanding use of in-mold labeling (IML), in-mold decorating (IMD) and in-mold electronics (IMD), the IMDA Awards Competition recognizes packaging and durable goods applications that were produced in 2023 or are slated for release in 2024.

“At the world’s largest plastics show – NPE2024 – in-mold technologies were everywhere, and the IMDA booth stayed incredibly busy as team members answered questions from visitors about IML, IMD and IME,” said Dianna Brodine, executive director of IMDA. “We expect that interest in in-mold processes to carry on throughout this year at events like Labelexpo Americas and PACK EXPO International, and we also anticipate a significant increase in awards entries as the in-mold industry tries to gain the attention of brand owners and OEMS who want to work with the best.”

Early bird entries are accepted until June 28, 2024, with the final deadline for submission set for July 15, 2024. Winners of this year’s competition will be announced at the Plastic Product Decorating Summit, scheduled for September 18-20, 2024, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (www.productdecoratingevent.com).

Judges assess each product by overall design and complexity; integration of the in-mold element into the part or package; functionality; and innovation in the use of materials and processes. Manufacturing difficulty and complexity of the part, label, design or mold also are considered. This competition is open to companies involved in any form of in-mold labeled packaging (IML), in-mold decorated durable products (IMD) and in-mold electronics (IME). While the focus of this competition is on the best in-mold design and technical achievement, IMDA continues to recognize and value entries related to sustainability and innovation.

The 2024 IMDA Awards Competition is sponsored by the following leaders in in-mold technologies: Arburg, Innovia, InkWorks Printing, KURZ, StackTeck, Sussex IM and Wipfli.
